DIY Baby Shower Gifts for Girls: With Free Patterns!!

Today I want to show you the 4 set of Baby Shower Gifts for girls I just put together. And I did it with Free Sewing Patterns too!! (3 out of 4 at least).

Since one of my friends is having a new Baby Girl, and we have her Baby Shower tomorrow, I decided to try Baby Sewing Patterns.

This is the first time I actually try to make baby clothing.

Technically this doesn’t require any special techniques if you know your way around the sewing machine.

But it sure is challenging to play with such small sewing areas.

Nevertheless, I gotta say that I enjoyed a lot making these projects. I can’t wait to see the look of my friend’s face when I give them to her.

From the beginning, I meant this gift to be a matching set.

DIY Baby Shower Gifts: A set of Sewing Patterns for a Baby Girl.

-The Baby Dress Pattern:

The first free sewing pattern for baby girls that I found was the Infant Peasant Dress By Sew Much a Do.

This dress was such an easy make.

First of all, it has raglan sleeves. Which basically takes away the fit of the curves of a regular sleeve.

I choose to pimp this design by attaching small bows on the center front and on the sides of the hem.

I made them with bias as well as the hem decorative ribbon.

-The Diaper Cover Pattern:

Then I looked for a nice but simple Diaper Cover Pattern. I found this one made by Made Every Day.

The original pattern has two looks you can go for. But gotta confess. I am not a big fan of reading instructions.

Instead of just trying to figure it out just with the pictures.

So I ended up messing the process and in the end, I just wing it with bias tape.

That reminds me: the instructions of the original post didn’t mention finishing the edges of the fabric. So you might want to take in consideration to serge the edges before.

I didn’t have my serger machine at the moment so I finished the raw edges by covering them with the same bias tape.

My own personal touch to this pattern was the cute ruffles for the derriere (or touch if you will).

I made them by cutting four 1” wide strips. Gather them with my gathering foot and making a narrow hem.

Because. What is cuter than a fluffy ruffle baby bootie??

-The Baby Girl Shoes Sewing Pattern

Now, the shoes were the only pattern that I didn’t get for free. Mainly because I drafted them my self.

I really tried to find a cute simple shoe for baby girls. But I couldn’t find one that met my requirements of a classy girly shoe.

So I ended up drafting this one and I think it went pretty well. Don’t you?

I will develop this pattern further so we can include it in our pattern shop.

I will upload it and let you know when I do.

-The headband Pattern

Finally,  the headband was as easy as taking a 13” elastic and passed it into a “tube” of the fabric of the same width and double the length.

Then I simply made another bow with bias of the same color.
