There is a simple way to make a No-Sew Scrunchie DIY. You can make and wear your scrunchies even if you don’t own a sewing machine!
This is the perfect DIY project to sell at craft fairs, to give to your friends on valentine’s day, or just to match a nice outfit for that weekend.
Grab your glue gun and a bit of elastic, and get ready for this amazing tutorial.

Not every one of us knows how to sew, and even if we do, there are sometimes when you just want an easy and quick make.
We get that.
That’s why we made this tutorial to make your own no-sew scrunchie diy in a very easy way.
You’ll just need your glue gun, elastic, and a scrap of your favorite fabric. That’s it!
This scrunchie will give a very unique style to your hairdos. And if you get tired of wearing it on your hair, it will also look pretty cool as a bracelet.
I love sewing gits for my friends. Even if it’s something small, I have found that people really appreciate handmade gifts.
That’s why during the year I store my prettiest fabric scraps and at the end of it, I make projects such as this one to give away on Christmas Day.
And the best thing is that you can customize this specific project in so many ways!
I have seen scrunchies with pompoms, ribbons, beads…
Infinite possibilities!
Do you remember that time when only little girls used scrunchies (after the 80s)? Well, we grown-ups made it work again!
Now adults and children can wear them to match and look simply fantastic!

I am nothing if not scrappy. Reusing things, and giving second chances to “garbage” materials is something that I enjoy a lot.
That’s why I made the No-Show Socks Sewing Pattern. To be able to use knit scraps.
I save every scrap, you guys.
And I mean every single tiny scrap.
That’s why I was so happy when scrunchies made their comeback.
How much fabric do I need to Sew a Scrunchie?

The standard measurement for our scrunchie is 22” long by 4” wide. All though, you can modify any of these measurements. For example, if you want more volume (a bigger scrunchie) you can add to the width. On the other hand, if you want more fullness, then add measurement to the length.
As for the type of fabric, you can use whichever you like. I have used everything from wovens to knits, to lace and tulle.
Everything looks great on this sewing project.

How to make a No-Sew Scrunchie
To make this scrunchie we will follow the basic steps on how to make a regular scrunchie.
With the exception that instead of sewing it, we are going to close it with a glue gun.
Just a word of warning in case you are a perfectionist. This is not the cleaner way to make a scrunchie.
But it does make the job way easier. For example, when I use special knit fabrics I have to make my secret trick so the fabrics won’t get puckers on them.
But with the glue gun, I get to avoid that altogether.
Watch this video to see how I did it, or read the step-by-step tutorial below.
How to make a No-Sew Scrunchie step by step
1. Cut a 22″ by 3 1/2″ fabric rectangle.

2. Glue the smaller ends at ¼”.

3. Wrap the inner strip with the outer strip leaving the right sides of the fabric on the inside.

4. Start joining the edges at ¼”.

5. Stop when you are left with about 2″ open.
6. Carefully pull the tube inside out.
7. Insert a 9″ long elastic band.
8. Join the elastic ends with a knot.

9. Close with more hot glue.

That’s it! Now you have a pretty nice scrunchie to wear, sell or give away!.
