I am hoping that I am just in time to tell you… Stop!
Step away from that Serger friend. Do not press that pedal just yet.
I know most of you guys have made the Juki Mo654de unboxing already, and as this machine comes threaded from the factory, it might seem a good idea just to start sewing.
But honey… I am telling you. DON’T DO IT.
Check up. The ends of the threads are wrapped around the foot tension knob! If you try to sew like this, you will mess everything, and the chances are that you will have to take that new serger back where it came.
So let’s do this correctly.
How do you thread a Juki mo654de?

First of all, raise your needles at their highest point and lift the presser foot.
Cut out the chain and test scrap of fabric that came with the machine. Unthread the chain and remove each thread in this order.
First, pull the thread out of the needles and pull the thread leftwards away from the machine. Then pull out the threads on the loopers one at a time the same way.
After this, you are ready to thread your Juki Serger. Follow the steps in this video tutorial.
I am using a color-coded thread to follow the colors of the machine that you will thread in this order:
*Upper Looper: Blue Thread
*Lower Looper: Red Thread
*Right-hand needle: Green Thread
*Left-hand needle: Yellow Thread
What other stitches can my Juki Serger Make?
You can use your Juki Serger machine to make a wide variety of functional and decorative stitches. The main six stitches are:
- 4-thread overlock seam
- 3-thread overlock seam
- 2-thread overlock seam
- 2-thread flatlock seam

- Blind hem overlock seam
