This year, after quite some time, I decided to finally reorganize my entire sewing room.
After putting it off for a long time, I decided that it was time.
I could never find my tools. My notions were stored all over the place.
My fabric stash was a mess.
I had my things in ugly plastic bags with post-its on them.
Enough was enough.
But there was a small issue.
There was no chance of doing this if I didn’t put some order to the things that I needed to do.
That is why I challenged a few brave seamstresses to do a sewing room organization with me.
With a full list of step-by-step tasks and free printable sheets and sewing room wall art.
Including these free sewing organization tools and notions labels.
Organizing your tools and notions.

In week 4 of this Organization Challenge, I talk about a lot of hacks and DIYs.
All to put together the perfect sewing room for your needs.
One of the most important things for me is to be able to find the stuff I need when I need it.
And you will agree with me that having a cluttered space is not the way to achieve that.
So one needs the best sewing room organization hacks that we can find.
One of the hardest things to do is to organize all the small notions such as buttons, ribbons, and such.
So, one of the solutions I came up with was to clean old candle jars and label them so they were easy to spot in my drawer.
I have also made labels for the plastic containers that hold the bigger tools and notions.

Tools and Notions Pastel Labels

For the tools labels I used a photographic shiny paper to print them.
Then, I cut the edges and glued them with a mod podge to my containers.

If you don’t see the name of the tool or the notion there is a whole page with blank labels for you to write on whatever you need.
Small Notions Transparent Sewing Organization Labels

You can either print and cut these cute labels as they are.
But if you want to give it an extra special touch follow my tutorial to make tape transparent labels.
The only thing you need is a printer and transparent 2″ wide tape.
Take into consideration that depending on the type of printer you have you should follow different steps.

With an inkjet printer, print with the settings in only black ink. A.K.A. No grayscale.
Then do as I do on my Instagram Reel video above.
Use a credit card to glue the tape over the labels perfectly flat. Pass it over a few times to assure that the ink will stick.
After that, cut each individual label and place them in a glass of water for a few seconds.
Pull it out and press the water out with a sponge or with your fingers.
Then remove the paper and stick your label on your container.

For a laser printer follow the same steps. But, instead of peeling the paper, you will need to scratch it gently with your fingers.
