In this tutorial, I am going to show you how I made my Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Trees.
If you have been looking for very affordable and cute Christmas crafts to make then you are in the right place.
To make these tree’s basic shapes you only need Toilet paper rolls, scissors, and a glue gun.
And as far as the decorations go you can leave it to your imagination. You can just paint, glitter, sequins…
Even handmade pom poms of multiple colors!
Soon you will have your own DIY Christmas Forest.

Do you also have a million toilet paper rolls waiting to be crafted?
I do.
Even after I made my Toilet Paper Roll Snowflakes I got a lot of material left.
I have been waiting for a worthy idea to use them on.
And I think this Christmas I will finally use them all.
The cardboard on these rolls is so great and easy to handle. Plus it is sturdy enough to make any craft very durable.
Not to mention that you can make them look like completely high-quality elements of decor with the right materials.
And that’s exactly what inspired me to do this project.

Toilet Paper Christmas Crafts.
I was looking for a ceramic Christmas tree decor set for my master bedroom Christmas decorations.
Of course, every store I visited on and offline had nothing for my wallet to handle.
Nevertheless, when I have an idea stuck in my mind I can’t let it go.
That’s how I ended up literally twisting these toilet paper rolls into beautiful Christmas trees.
Here I want to show you how to make the cardboard base of the tree shape.
Plus, a couple of crafty ideas I ended up making after my copy-cat ceramic Christmas Trees.
Once you make the base you will be able to decorate them on any Christmas color Palette and texture you want.
Are you ready? Let’s do this!
How do you make Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Trees?
Making the cone.
The first thing you gotta do is the cone.
To form it you need to cut your tube in half lengthwise.

Then you are going to take side “A” and twist it upside down under corner “B”. This will form a cone shape.
Secure it with your glue gun.

As the paper roll isn’t meant to be a cone, you are going to have this weird shape coming up.
Don’t worry. We will trim the excess.

To do so, use a ruler to measure from the point of the cone to the smaller length down.
Then go around it and mark the same length all around.
Cut through these marks and you’ll have an even cone shape.

Making the tree’s log.
To make the log, cut half of the toilet paper roll width-wise. Then cut that in half again, length-wise.
You can make the log as high or as short as you want.
On some of my trees, I play with the height to make them pop out.
Roll the piece to form a tube.

This is what is going to hold your tree.
So make sure it is flat on both ends.

Finally, glue your log to the middle of the base of your toilet paper roll Christmas trees.

That’s it! Now you are ready to decorate. Here are some quick ideas.
Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Trees DIY Ideas.
For the first tree, I went a little bit too much.
I used several pipe cleaners that I bent into zigzag lines.
Then I glue them around the cone in rows.
It was a little bit time-consuming but completely worth it.

The second tree was so much easier.
I simply covered the cone with white glue and had fun sprinkling green glitter.
Of course, the not-so-fun part of that was cleaning myself out of that.
I think I still have some glitter in my hair.
If you use glitter don’t forget to add an extra layer of glue on top.
As fun as it is to see it fall, you don’t want to clean your whole house and other ornaments of glitter bombs.

My third trees were fun and by far the easiest ones to make.
I used sparkled pipe cleaners. Which looks a lot like glitter, but with a 3D effect.
And it does not make a mess!
Just a couple of glue dots of my silicone gun and make a spiral with them from the bottom up.

Last but not least was another pipe cleaner Christmas tree.
For this one, I glued the pipes vertically until the whole cone was covered.
Then I glued some plastic gems for a fancy look.

This is such a cute idea I think my grandkids will love it 😍
And they can do it in so many different colors!
it’s hard to choose…I really like the pipe cleaner one. Can you do the same thing with a paper towel tube?
I like that one too Jo!
I think that it will be so much harder doing it with a paper towel tube. To make a bigger tree I would just make a cone out of paper (or you can use a cereal cardboard box!!)
