These toilet paper roll snowflakes were one of my favorite Christmas Crafts this year.

They are so easy and quick to make. Also, you can paint them and decor them the way you like.

Use glitter, rhinestones, acrylic paint, even pompoms!

And I know that decorating your snowflakes is the easy part of this DIY craft.

The only actual issue you might have is coming up with design ideas to assemble your snowflakes.

That is why I made this post to show you all the styles I made.

Do you know what they say about snowflakes right?

Not one of them is the same as the other.

And just like that, I didn’t worry to replicate any of these designs.

You shouldn’t do it either!

I am sure that once you get the hang of making these you are going to start making your own designs without thinking about it.

How to make Toilet Paper Roll Snowflakes.

The first thing you gotta do is gather all those toilet paper rolls you have stored for crafts.

I know you have them.

There is this thing I do. Maybe you do it too…

I just have to save all the things I think that would be useful for “some craft”.

So I am unable to throw away the toilet paper rolls.

The fun thing is that I save so much of them. But then when I actually use them they are gone in a second!

You will see, once you start making toilet paper roll snowflakes.

Materials for the basic shapes:

  • Toilet Paper Rolls
  • Silicone Gun or Glue
  • Scissors
  • White Paint

1. Cutting the rolls.

So, cut your rolls thin. The width of them really does not matter and in this way, you will be able to make more pieces.

So take each one of your toilet paper rolls. Press them flat and cut them into strips.

Cut as many as you can.

Then cut some of those strips to manipulate into different shapes.

I rolled some into spirals. Made circles with others and so on.

You will use these to add them to the bigger ovals.

This will give depth and style to your snowflakes.

2. Gluing the pieces.

Make a basic snowflake shape by gluing between 4 and 6 ovals.

Then glue the smaller shapes you made before in a mirrored way.

3. Make the Toilet Paper Roll Designs and Ideas.

You can absolutely feel free to experiment with the shape you want your snowflakes to be.

But in case you need some inspiration, here are the ones that I have made.

Snowflakes decor ideas.

All righty, now that you have your snowflakes is time to decorate.

I decided to leave mine as they were.

Nevertheless, there are so many other things you can do to give them a pop of style.

Here are some ideas that come to mind.

  • Choose a Christmas color palette and paint them alternating colors to make a garland.
  • Mix glitter and glue and paint them to make them shine.
  • Make little paper snowflakes and glue them in the center.
  • Write wishes on the sides. Make your family take it on Christmas day to read them out loud.
  • Add rhinestones to the center or on the sides.
  • Cover the sides with ribbons of different colors.

How to hang the snowflakes.

My favorite way to hang these snowflakes is by using an “invisible” thread.

It creates the illusion of floating snowflakes.

I like to hang them on my outside window at different high levels.

And I think this year I am going to hang them on my garage door too.

You can also make a garland with a twine. Just make small holes with a needle horizontally through the points of your snowflakes. That’s it.

Now you have a wonderful element of Christmas decor DIY to set the mood in your home.
