You can use vegan leather or vinyl leather for this project. Although if you are confident enough with leather sewing patterns, you can use real leather too.
Start your leather heart keychain pattern by tracing the heart template onto the leather. Make sure you trace accurately so that your keychain will have a nice edge when finished.
To do this, you can either use a pen or pencil directly on the fabric-backed side of the leather or lay down carbon paper between the leather and the template.
Once you’ve finished tracing your pattern, carefully cut out your heart with scissors or a craft knife.
