Now, you might be wondering how do I know Transparency Film Stencils are actually the best ones… Why is Transparency Film Stencil the best way to Make a Stencil?

Well, I actually made an experiment where I tried to make a stencil using 4 different handmade Stencil Techniques with the same Free Stencil Printable.

And I found that the best way to make a Stencil for the long run and best quality Print on Fabric Results is to make it with Transparency Film.

Don’t believe me?? You can see the comparations here:

I am guessing that by now you know that the Transparency Film is my way to go to make a stencil. But…
Why Do I Think Making Stencil with Transparency Film is better than do it with Freezer Paper??

The thing is Transparency Film is a very durable material.

Cutting out the negative on the Stencil can be a little though and it is a detailed task. But is totally worth it once finished.

And the best thing about making Stencils with it is that you can store it and reuse it way more than with any other stencil technique. It Stencil peels off so easy and is basically ready to use it again! Is hold its shape perfectly and you can store it with other stencils once the glue is kind of dry (doesn’t even has to be completely dry because is removable glue).

Of course that if you are lucky enough to have a Cricut or a Silhouette Cutting machine this is a piece of cake.

You just need to load up your design and let the machine do that hard work.

But if you are an unfortunate soul like me and you still don’t own one of these magic boxes… just know you can print perfectly on fabric too!!

So let do this!

For this Tutorial you are going to need the following materials:

How to Make a Stencil with Transparency Film

Written Instructions

1- Print Your File

To make a Stencil with Transparency Film you can print directly over the acrylic sheet or if you prefer to print it out of regular paper.

If you printed your design on a regular sheet of paper simply place the Transparency Film over the paper and secure it with tape so it won’t move when you cut it.

2- Cut Out your Design with a cutter

Cut carefully over the lines.

3- Spray Mount Glue on the Back

Once cut, take your spray glue and spray a light layer. Let it sit for about 30 seconds.

Apply a second light layer of glue.

Press the Stencil against the fabric and with your fingers press the edges and corners to make sure they are stuck to the fabric.

4- Paint by Taping with a Sponge

With a sponge take a small amount of fabric paint and tap very softly over the design.

The first layer is going to be a little see-through, but don’t worry we are going to tap the second layer.

Only, of course, after the first layer is done.

5- Let it Dry and Peel

Allow your paint to dry for about half an hour and then peel the stencil out of the Fabric.

Enjoy your end result!!
