It’s been a while since I sewed for toddlers. Not since my little nieces and nephews were… well, little.
But over the years, I’ve tried a lot of fun and cute patterns. And I was surfing in my files yesterday and came across all my saves during these past years.
Obviously, I had to share them with you!
In this list, you will find the most adorable sewing patterns for toddlers from sizes 3m to 14T.
Not every pattern covers the entire size range, though. We have some great options, and you surely find what you are looking for.
But if you look well, you will find the perfect pattern in the size you are looking for.
Most of these patterns are for both boys and girls.
The only thing you need to do is adapt the color or prints to the ones your toddler likes best.
Involving them in the decision-making process will make them love every piece you make for them.
The thing I do with my nieces is to present them with a kit of two combos of fabrics that I know will look good together.
They get to choose which combo of fabrics I will use for each pattern design.
How much fabric do I need to make a Toddler Pattern?
Depending on the design you choose, a toddler pattern will need about 1/2 a yard to 3/4 of a yard.
Of course, designs such as pants and puffy dresses take a bit more fabric.
How to measure kids for sewing patterns
Take your time and double-check your measurements before cutting into precious fabric. By following these simple steps, you’ll be well on your way to creating beautiful clothes that are perfectly tailored for those little ones who mean the world to us.
To measure kids for sewing patterns, use a flexible measuring tape and take accurate measurements of key areas.
- For chest circumference, measure around the fullest part of the chest, ensuring the tape is snug but not tight.
- For waist circumference, measure around the natural waistline, typically above the belly button.
- Measure hip circumference around the fullest part of the hips.
- Record the child’s height by having them stand straight against a wall, measuring from the floor to the top of the head.
- Additionally, measure arm length from the shoulder to the wrist and leg inseam from the crotch to the desired pant length.
These measurements will help you choose or adjust sewing patterns to ensure a proper fit for kids’ clothing.
