These glitter branches for a Christmas tree are perfect if you want an affordable way to decorate your home.
These cool branches are not only beautiful, but they are also super cheap to make! It only needs three primary materials, and I bet you already have two in your craft room.
The sparkly glitter branches we will make today are great for decorating your house for the holidays.
I am using them to add a touch of spark and volume to my Christmas tree, but you can use them in many different ways. I will give you a few other ideas in this article, so keep reading until the end.

Even though my Christmas decor collection is huge at this point, there is something new I want to add to it every Christmas.
This year I became a little obsessed with having glitter branches in my tree.
But I couldn’t afford to spend much on new decorations this year.
Fortunately, necessity is the mother of creativity. And for this crafter, money is never an obstacle to creating unique and beautiful projects for my home.
I was determined to have sparkly branches this year for my decorations. And I did it without spending a penny.
I just used with things I already had in my craft room and some free materials I got from mother nature.

How to use tree branches for Christmas decorations?
You can use glitter tree branches in many different types of decorations. Here are a few ideas:
- Add volume and sparkles to your Christmas tree.
- As a centerpiece for your dining table.
- Inside a glass vase as “flowers.”
- To make a Rustic Christmas Wreath for your door.
- Over your mantel with small ornaments hanging from the twigs.
- Add them to your window garlands.
- You can even make a “Christmas tree” out of these! I have seen that idea before, and it looks absolutely stunning!
And the best part is that you can use these glitter twig branches as an evergreen home decoration.
Select the color of your glitter depending on your Christmas Color Palette of the year.
In my case, I decided to use gold color glitter to match my warm Christmas color palette of the year (red, green, gold).
But silver or white glitter tree branches can look great for a cold color palette (silver, green, blue) and as a regular home decoration.
White and silver are two colors that usually match most color palettes, so these can serve two decoration purposes.
How do you put decorative branches on a Christmas tree?
To decorate your tree with glitter branches, insert the longer and thicker end in the spaces between the tree branches and secure them by twisting a wire branch around the glitter branch.
Make sure to spread them evenly throughout the surface of the tree.
Also, put the shorter branches on the upper end of your tree and the longer stems on the lower end.
Otherwise, your tree could look weird.
A Christmas tree with glitter branches is one of the cutest things. They give it a very nice volume and shine and are the perfect balance added to your DIY ornaments.
How to make a Christmas Tree with branches?
To make a Christmas Tree out of glitter branches, choose a large branch with many small twigs to hang your DIY elegant ornaments.
If you don’t find the perfect branch you are expecting, you can always make it yourself.
Use a thick branch as a base, and take your glue gun. Put small dots on assorted twigs from the same tree and glue them in the place you think looks best.
Keep it clean! Don’t let the glue drip a lot on the connections. Hot glue can actually be very discreet if you use it well.
Now, you can totally decide between using glitter branches or leaving the raw look for a rustic look.

How do you put glitter on tree branches?
To put glitter on tree branches, you must clean them thoroughly. Then cover them with white glue and water, and sprinkle the glitter from the top and bottom. Finally, seal the glitter so it won’t fall out by the touch.
I will explain this further in a minute.
But a great tip I want you to remember before starting this craft is to put a paper or plastic cover over your work table.
If you have worked with glitter before, you know that it gets everywhere! And quite honestly is a pain in the bootie to clean.
The best way to avoid this headache is to place a paper sheet or a disposable mantel over your table so you can pick it up and throw it out when you finish your craft.
How to make Sparkly Glitter branches for Christmas trees?
As always, gather your materials. For this project, you will need only three primary materials and some things you can find in your craft room. They are the following.
Materials for the Christmas tree branches.
- Tree branches
- White Glue
- Gold, silver, or white glitter (or the color you prefer)
- Small container for the glue
- Brush
1. Gather tree branches.
I went to my block’s park to find the best tree branches for this project.
This time, I picked up greenish branches with many small bumps on the twigs to add some texture. I don’t like smooth branches because they need to look more natural.
Try to pick the branches that are partially dried out.
This will make it easier for you to apply the glue and the glitter without breaking apart.
2. Form the shape of the branches.
As I said before, you can make the branch look precisely as you want it to.
You just need to use a glue gun. And as the branch will get covered in glitter, you don’t have to worry about it looking messy.
The ideal thing here is that you concentrate the twigs on the upper part of the branch, leaving the lower part free and extended.
As the lower part is the one we will insert in our trees, this has to be twig free.
Remember to leave the thinner ends as the furthest points of your branches. The thicker ends will go on the base of the branch.
3. Apply a coat of glue.
Watering down the glue makes spreading on a rough surface like a twig easier.
Make a mixture of two parts glue and one part water, in the small container and mix it well with the brush.
Start applying the glue on the outer ends of the branch towards the base.
Do it in small sections so it will be less messy and the glue doesn’t dry up a lot.
4. Cover with glitter.
Use a bottle or glitter container to sprinkle the glitter over the branch.
Put a clean and dry sheet of paper underneath it so you can grab the extra glitter and put it back in the container.
Do small sections of each one of the twigs at a time.
Be patient. This project can get messy quickly, and that is ok.
5. Seal the glitter with a new coat of glue.
We will apply a sealing coat to prevent the glitter from falling off while you handle the tree branches.
You can do this by applying two coats of the mixture of glue we made before. Leave it to dry between each coat.
Or you can go to any craft shop and get coating spray, which is way quicker.
Leave them to dry, and that’s it!
Now you have a beautiful Christmas decoration for your home for this holiday.
